Happy Women's Day!

Very well done. Its not easy since biases of all kinds are right within each of us, as self and society (at least its within me unfortunately, that I tend to notice or is made to realize from time to time). Its easier to show that all is well for convincing ourselves on outside, but the biases are far deeply rooted than we can imagine or like to accept actively. Perhaps because it is very much a part of the animalistic nature that we still cary in our genes through generations. So going by the very nature itself, such biases can only be rooted out or challenged from the position of strength, as in any animal society, including that of homosapians. May the force be with the weaker gender/race/class/caste/whatever is out there. And may we garner enough passive sense and strength within ourselves, to work on its alleviation as much as we can.

Congratulating President Elect of the USA, Donald Trump!

While it is easy to praise the guy now that he has won, but it is what it is. He shelved his mostly ingenuous talks but Hillary's shady record bit her hard at a very crunch time, thanks to Mr Weiner. There is no denying the fact that Trump and his team created a very unusual and innovative path to victory out of untapped disenfranchised small town voters in rust belt, traditionally bagged by Democrats thanks to stronghold in urban areas. Also as much as we like it or hate it, Trump probably showed all of us why the capitalists rule the world. They just seem to be better at tapping natural, human, time and capital resources. Trump turned out to be the the ultimate challenger to old school political system. Well done team Trump.

Looking forward to SNL skits this weekend!!

My views on BBC Nirbhaya documentary

I must admit that the BBC Nirbhaya documentary has provided a golden "turncoat" debate topic. I am assuming that people have had far lesser issues had it been made by some Indian channel and focussed less on the the rapist devil (I mean British would possibly fair better focussing on what they did to aboriginals of the creation of artificial famines resulting in mass deaths or how they compromised the interests of colonies to create what is now a 3rd world). But the overall presentation is rather simple and pretty solid and there would be such issues of balanced portrayals no matter who and what the details of documentary are, particularly on such negative issues. Its hard to make a negative documentary or even a movie (e.g. Chandni Bar). So it absolutely makes a case of open viewership and I don't understand why the women organizations and even government would oppose it as a insult to Nirbhaya. Its not a insult to her by any means. It actually pays the due respect. Sure its a bit hard to hear to that guy but you know what, its good to let the heart cry a bit. It is important to see and realize the presence of elements of that person in people we know or have known or ourselves for that matter. May be that would help erase the demonic elements inside us. As it goes, the elements of God and Devil resides in all of us at all times and its up to our "karma" to channelize and strengthen them. That is essence of yoga and meditation. And this documentary does no harm to the viewers. There is no point in worrying about what outsiders would think after seeing this as outsiders mean insignificant or nothing; if not for our own self and our own people.

The Land Acquisition Bill in India

Governments have tough things to handle to sail the ship far in order to catch riches .. Land acquisition is one such tough steps which seems like being very unpopular but is somewhat necessary. Hope it does not get misused. The problem is that such steps act like caste system. Honest people make it and keep nothing for themselves (in addition to achieving exclusive distribution of elements of power viz money, power, knowledge and land) but then dishonest people misuse it and make it look like an unwise system. In the end, all can work if there is honesty in approach.

Since the last UPA government found it suitable to put in clauses which can prove extremely difficult to be implemented for setting up shops and industries, it has fallen onto the present government to be able to sail the boat of India Inc into the future with tough steps which might even sound anti-farmer to many. The opposition and all other political players have been seen jumping into the water with the aim to get into the good books of a large portion on voters who rely on farming. I sincerely hope that the government can take the steps to safeguard the interests of farmers and investors with a balances approach to make it possible for both to exist in resonance. Nevertheless, Interesting days ahead in government affairs.

Respects to Jitam Ram Manjhi

t seems like the assembly arrangement the trial of strength is going to be a complex affair. Anyways, while Manjhi may not be the most polished politician, I had a feeling that he was somewhat honest in his actions and proved too independent and vocal for Nitish and Co who had hoped of a MMS like robotic configuration out of him. We should respect him for how he championed for the cause of Dalits in Bihar in strong fashion via his actions, even if controversial at times. I hope he prevails in Bihar politics in some way or another and serves the community that really needs major upliftment. In many ways, the upliftment of Dalits will be a good measure of progress of society as a whole. Its certainly doable if we have more of Manjhi likes at the helm (rather than the corrupt Ram Vilas Paswan like, who had done nothing substantial for the poor). Good Luck!

Paanch Saal Kejriwal

I must admit that democracy in India is getting better and better, at least it seems like it. The post "Congress-Mukt" era seems to have dawned upon us and while it comes with its own risks and touch of immaturity at times, it really can't get worse than the corrupt era of Congress-Lalu-Mulayam-Mayawati combined, who had outlived their respective utilities. And it comes with new and fresh brains with innovative ideas and energy. A competition amongst uncorrupt leaders as CM came as fresh breathable air for capital city. If Arvind can get his manifesto implemented to a large extent, it will prove be the new gold standard for state politics and push others for sure. Congratulations to AK & all AAP supporters who have proved their metal in the end, duly supported by almost nonchalant approach from BJP. Bravo "“Paanch Saal Kejriwal"!

Lessons from life of Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan aka Badshah Khan, the Frontier Gandhi, Fakhr-e Afghān

The fate of Gandhian nationalists in Pakistan viz Gafar Khan from Frontiers and others from Sindh is the most clear crystal signature of the grand mistake that Pakistan is, from which the subcontinent will bleed for generations. It really is absolutely "naapak" by all standards. India always grew as one as people knew that they really are one, irrespective of religion which was seen as a matter of constraints of time and having the same sole purpose of enlightenment. Many examples can be seen in 1857 revolts e.g visit Jhansi. Its not before quite a few generations down the line when the identity crisis started propelled by hardliners taking over and absolutely decimating the genuine nationalists. Good one!

Rape and Religious conversions are sick human attitudes in full display in UP!

I can not comprehend how the so called secular/liberal (or whatever junk they are) people can close their eyes on the victimization at the hand of desert cultures for over thousands of years and still continuing with it? I mean first and foremost, all and absolutely all madarasas should be leveled to ground by not even Hindus, but the sane and humane muslims themselves, to get rid of breeding grounds of all kinds of heinous acts viz terrorism and now religious conversion, which bring shame to humanity. Also religion is supposed to serve as source of knowledge and I don't know from where do these guys got this idea of continuously creating victims, when their forefathers were victims themselves! Its almost like a highly communicable HIV virus. You spread to to others and the others act as source then, dusted themselves forever. I stand appalled. What a colossal shame!

Please note that the point was made about the negative aspects which have caused so much blood shed and I stand by it. I think I have clearly pointed out that its meant for knowledge of life and its unfortunate that people can get such ideas of stupid conversions. That trend is dangerous.Sadly that is part of Middle eastern religions, as I have read and understood it. I understand it when the thirsty goes to well, but I know there is something wrong when its other way around. Languages can vary!

Also the level of disappointment to a lot of hopefuls including myself from Akhilesh government in UP is absolutely gigantic. Whether its family politics or constrained space to act or the goon culture, the way and speed at which his SP government has acted has been appalling at best.

I recall that the self styled secularists were shouting at some Shiv Sena guy having fed a roti which he served as an employee and too when it was all about the quality of food served? And I see or hear nothing on news when such a barbaric inhuman incidence has occurred. I mean this is such an affluent bigotry!

I am not sure but what does anyone want us to infer from Sura 9:5, 9:29, 5.33 etc? It hardly leaves space of grey in the way it portrays the facts. Killing is like some fashion statement here as if its the most natural thing to do!

Please understand the rules and basic attitude of humans being morphed or directed by such texts can not be ruled out as has been proved by nuts on all sides. I think the best of humans and practices are perhaps all done and dusted by the sword waiving barbarians long ago. Nevertheless its our job to learn from mistakes not to repeat them again and again and make the earth a better place to breath and live peacefully for all!

Lessons of life from a father

There are many links available online so I am not bothering about the original source.
-----------

Following is a letter to his son from a renowned
Hong Kong TV broadcaster/Child Psychologist. The words are actually applicable to all of us, young or old.All parents can use this in their teachings to their children.

Dear son ,

I am writing this to you for 3 reasons:

1. Life, fortune and mishaps are unpredictable; nobody knows how long he lives. Some words are better said early.

2. I am your father, and if I don't tell you these, no one else will.

3. What is written is based on my own personal experiences that perhaps could save you a lot of unnecessary heartaches.

Remember the following as you go through life:

1. Do not bear grudge towards those who are not good to you. No one has the responsibility of treating you well, except your mother and I. To those who are good to you, you have to treasure it and be thankful, and ALSO you have to be cautious, because, everyone has a motive for every move. When a person is good to you, it does not mean he really likes you. You have to be careful, don't hastily regard him as a real friend.

2. No one is indispensable, nothing in the world that you must possess. Once you understand this idea, it would be easier for you to go through life when people around you don't want you anymore, or when you lose what/who you love most.

3.Life is short. When you waste your life today, tomorrow you would find that life is leaving you. The earlier you treasure your life, the better you enjoy life.

4.Love is but a transient feeling, and this feeling would fade with time and with one's mood. If your so called loved one leaves you, be patient, time will wash away your aches and sadness. Don't over exaggerate the beauty and sweetness of love, and don't over exaggerate the sadness of falling out of love.
5.A lot of successful people did not receive a good education, that does not mean that you can be successful by not studying hard! Whatever knowledge you gain is your weapon in life. One can go from rags to riches, but one has to start from some rags!

6.I do not expect you to financially support me when I am old, neither would I financially support your whole life. My responsibility as a supporter ends when you are grown up. After that, you decide whether you want to travel in a public transport or in your limousine, whether rich or poor.

7.You honour your words, but don't expect others to be so. You can be good to people, but don't expect people to be good to you. If you don't understand this, you would end up with unnecessary troubles.

8. I have bought lotteries for umpteen years, but I never strike any prize. That shows if you want to be rich, you have to work hard! There is no free lunch!

9. No matter how much time I have with you, let's treasure the time we have together. We do not know if we would meet again in our next life.

Love,
Your Dad

Arab-Israel conflict

Israel exists on being tough and recently, partly aggressive. Nevertheless, its the Arabs who started the war in 1948 (7 against 1, somewhat Abhimanyu style) and they start it by pounding and towns even today to which has to respond (via Hamas, in the name of jihad). Its collateral damage from a long standing All Arab vs Israel conflict.

No one talks of Jews (few fold more than Palestinians) being evicted from Arab league because they were peacefully and gracefully absorbed. On the other hand, Arab nations refused to absorb Palestinian refugees, instead keeping them in refugee camps while insisting that they be allowed to return. The Arab League instructed its members to deny Palestinians citizenship "to avoid dissolution of their identity and protect their right of return to their homeland."

The present crisis is a classic Arabian drama which could have been so easily settled if Arabs wanted to. But they have been dreaming of exploiting the booties of war since 1948, similar to what they have been doing since last 1400 years! (A British officer stationed in Haifa stated that the four-week-long 06/11/48-07/08/48 truce "would certainly be exploited by the Jews to continue military training and reorganization while the Arabs would waste [them] feuding over the future divisions of the spoils"). Sadly innocents are paying for it with their dear lives on both sides of war. Bottom-line fact is that Arabs are extremely useless and can only loot and create problems. Peace is not there spiritual inheritance and would never be so until the jihad mentality is shredded off.

FIFA world cup 2014: An awesome edition

Looked like the hand-football experience came in handy for Tim Howard, but the ball possession technique in midfield was just not good enough. Better luck for Klinsmann's army + other loosing pre-quarterfinalists next time (Mexico, Algeria, Chile, Nigeria). For the time being, its all the eight group leaders who meat in quarterfinals. The fact that it is so hard to predict anything from here on goes to show how awesome this edition is but also highlights the fact that no one team seem to have that supreme magic of Spain or Brazil in recent editions.

Time for users to take over, thanks to Motorola and project ARA

While talks of project ARA at Motorola and later Google once they acquired it has been talks for while, it seems the right time has come for the tech to take the next step.

Link to more details about project Ara: Click here

I know for a fact that Google kept this project to itself during the sale of Motorola and an alpha version is underway. In fact there is going to be a 2-day developer conference on April 15-16 where more details, scopes and challenges will be thrown open. There was an event in February 2014 where the idea was demonstrated in its concept with a modular version as shown in rather long video below.

Now while the project itself has been nurtured at Motorola/Google, others have come forward to take advantage of this open platform and come forward with their own idea. One of the leading team is British tech group who has come up with the idea known as Phoneblocks. Their idea is seen in the video below.

Now another idea on similar principles has come up for smart watches has come up where we can choose each block from the belt to dial for different purposed to make it work for our individual needs. Its been dubbed as chooseblock and its concept is explained in the video below.

The concept of replacing workable parts with another block of use is not exactly new since such replacements for batteries and CD trays etc has been available in Thinkpad series of laptops for some time. There are probably others who has some exchangeable parts too. But then the whole idea of having a custom-made exchangeable hardware is somewhat new. The critiques have been saying its not a possibility because of compatibility issues of various brand products and possibly not as profitable for companies as well. So it would lack the corporate thrust from hardware manufacturers. On the other hand we know what Google and some other start ups can do by themselves and if the concept clicks, I am sure others will join the bandwagon sooner or later. Nevertheless, its a thumbs up from prospective users and customers and I am excited about the customizable hardware configurations that future has in store for us.

Intersecting corruption in India

The reason for so much corruption in India and in general any third world country, is mental insecurity of life. That is one of the reasons western countries came up with the concept of social security at the cost of resources from third world.

As far as Indian context is concerned, first the over all GDP has to cross 5 trillion mark which is achievable with proper planning, before talks of social security could gain air. Proper honest insurance and social security can go long way to help stabilize mental state of people out of mere inbuilt insecurity that has taken generations to slowly prop in nerves.

Corruption in lower sections are more of nuisance and inflict pride and general life of common people. Its the corruption at highest points of decision making of resources which are makers of a nation. That is where CIA and all other spy teams to make the world and its resources amiable to so called modern superpowers are focussed.

Anyways, corruption is bad but look at sarpanch elections, they are the most corrupt elections of all. So  the bottom line is that our own corrupt mentality change needs to change which can be rectified with proper usage of resources and assurance of future. And that is where Narendra Modi is so good at. I hope India can have him as their Prime Minister and see the growth eclipsing barriers of impotency and corruption soon.

Jai Hind.

Political revolution in India

As much as we talk about honesty or mystery of Kejriwal's tenure, the fact remains that he and his group is not a tested material by any measuring yard. Talks of communist ideas have always sounded great but its single all powerful moto's have entrusted great pains upon human societies in long run when the tides are turned with time.

Nevertheless, we at least hope that a sense of urgency and honesty would permeate through our political system as direct or indirect effects of surge in supposedly, "honest" candidates in politics. Whatever happens, if all goes well, we might get lucky to see some cleansing from congress inflicted moral lows in politics. I really hope for a dawn of better politics ahead, built on deathbed of Congress's "divide and rule" and appeasement politics. But Kejriwal has a long long road to go ahead to prove himself. Rather tough policies do seem to be a stronghold of AK, at least as of now. The recent events with the darbaar showed clearly that the lack of experience an governance is going to be a major issue with the AAP government. But we all have the right to believe that the political path in India is finally on some kind of right path but the path itself is going to be a steep uphill climb whose success will largely determine the future of a fifth of humanity.

Devyani Khobragade's case

Khobragade's arrest is a case of grave lack of understanding. American nanny would be useless with her scant knowledge of cooking so you need an Indian one for having a meaningful help. Since the consulate employments are not through US related agency, I am not sure why should they object to have a help as per reasonable Indian pay rates. 45000$ per annum is 45000/40/56~20.1$/hr for 40 hrs per week which may not be affordable when her pay is 40000$ per annum herself. And the barbaric treatment is a shame for someone from a place where public nudity is not considered as a measure of human progress. There is some real issue with being genuine and practical here. Else let the world oil trade happen in all currencies without threat to bring democracy, as should happen in a genuine world. That will bring currency equation to favorable figures in no time. Any one remember talk of immunity during Raymond Davis episode when the crimes where much more heinous? They eventually paid so called "blood money" to get him out which they can pay because they print it for no value. There is not one single treaty US has perpetually honored throughout its rather short history. Hypocrisy at its best!

Aam Admi Party is loosing respect faster than light

I thought it was a great development in Indian politics to try out an experimental party like AAP, even if it seems to resonate with communist ideas on several fronts. A minimum of six months of governance is insured by law and that should be enough to kickstart a new governance model and fortify its cause. But its lack of desire to show solid ground results by forming a government is a shocking attitude. Victory and achievements are no good if they fail to cultivate sense of duty and humbleness. Jai Hind.

Highest mountain peaks on Earth

Its quite amazing to gauze the magnitude of Himalayas and adjacent ranges. All the lallest 109 mountain peaks on list are from these ranges. No wonder it rains that much there ... kind of explains the reason for civilization being that old and rich there ... and population being supported so huge, which of course, has its own issues as the mass did not got as much of the opportunity to spread out as others did. Just saying :)

The Gods envy us :)

"The Gods envy us. They envy us because we're mortal. Because any moment might be our last. Everything's more beautiful because we're doomed." - Achilles

Worth a thought ... e.g. Monotonousity of research life taught me that coursework is way more fun and dynamic, after all who does not misses his/her college/school days. Same applies for jails and a lot of other life's events. So dynamically is truly on our side compared to Gods/Goddesses. So They must be crazy envy, if They have our elements or we have Theirs's lol :)

Love is an universal phenomena.

I personally think that the best selfless people who work for humanity do seldom advertisements as selfless devotion possibly can not go with advertisement. The requirements and standards of suffering are also dubious. Some of the quotes from colonial or slave era might shed a lot of light onto how things work in real space and what are the basic purposes of world spanning advertisements. In present world, South Africa is a classic example.

My broader point is that to me, love has nothing to do with human species in particular  Its a universal phenomena found in all mammals. All mammal mothers have babies inside their womb as their part and there is no other form of Love or God or anything greater than that bond and that is universal. Humans are generally too narrow minded. And the lack of love is more of a human anticlimax. They say love each day a thousand times and hate each other in their minds. See the divorce rate in US. See how things went during explorations of early Americas and Africa/Asia and how things are in middle east today. Races have been wholly eradicated by some very love-loving cultures. So to me, talking and advertisement seldom helps. Actions does. I have a lot of respect for aboriginal cultures ... but sadly most stand either love or peace decimated. Things are really misplaced and misused. You can find good and bad everywhere but in the end, your actions matter on ground and I see the ground blood-bathed by human explorations.

Its great to be hungry for love, but that is an intrinsic hunger which loose a lot of charactered once out of the safety of our hearts. My advice is that we should keep that hunger going and share it universally with all organic forms. It would be wonderful to have little plants, pets, children and serve them. I have done that in my childhood and still see organic forms as one with common inheritance and emotions. I have tried to save lives all my life and will always do it. But I feel uncomfortable advertising or even writing about it. Just said because you have a potential and a long way to go. Paths won't really matter but value of life and sharing of mutual love will.

Miss-creation of images by modern corporate driven media

Image creation has always been a tool of exploitation and keeping humanity or at least part of it, in dark about the power and abilities of fellow subjects. Media and perhaps the whole electronics business have helped compromise the intellectual equilibrium of our species creating some kind of corporate nexus, where the real use of enlightenment has ceased in favor of money churning mall-practices and contents ... only time would tell if we are really advancing or the average progress and desire to understand nature, which so distinctly defined humanity, heading towards some eventual recession or total stall. I think we will be wise in being skeptical.

Stargazing Events in 2013

I got it from a post on FB. I hope the maker would be least interested in stupid copyright talk. So let's enjoy these events :)

The structural integration of phone, PC and TV with Android+Ubuntu

Smartphones, not tabs, would kill PCs in near future as Android and Ubuntu would converge seamlessly creating a real possibility of a phone running normal PC or TV (with a separate screen and dock). Of course apple won't do it but good luck to people at canonical. Looking forward to :)

When it comes to graphics, Ubuntu has been King forever. I still remember how Apple copied compiz  fusion tricks way later which I used to use on my Ubuntu.

I personally would like an Android smartphone with a (screen+battery+keyboard+dock, all in one thin, portable and cheap package, designed somewhat on lines of Surface) system which will convert the phone into a ChromeOS/Ubuntu laptop or a Google/Ubuntu TV, all with seamless transitions as desired and defaulted to convenient choices.

Good luck to canonical and google team.

Good luck Bowman!

I recently noticed that the ordinary tomatoes in Kroger looked all alike while the organic ones look all different and are not so nice looking. I put own case to rest with that.

I felt really happy to be from under-privileged society where the food was not played with but to such extents, whatever be the reasons.

F*** Monsanto and all bankers. The loans and GMs have ensured that common farmers and families are part of a slavery system where our work and farms are merely a part of corporate profits. There is no control or ownership in the hands of masses, not even their shelters.

I might be wrong but I think genetically modified food may be reasons for many medical issues like cancer and defects etc which propels the medical industry and hence its win-win situation for a lot of dollar churners at the cost of health and rights of ordinary farmers and citizens.

Good luck humanity!

Industrialization needs to be a responsible phenomenon.

Why industrialization/corporatization is dangerous and so may be FDI. Bottom-line is that any system has an intrinsic potential of getting corrupt as it needs to get bigger and richer and the corporate driven US is a classic case study for understanding ways to save ourselves and planet Earth in so many ways. Anyways, ORGANIC/Farm market food is the hope here and I see Portland,OR as the right model for US to develop towards (where bike/public transport and farmer's market rule). Quite an eye opener.

The one thing that makes somewhat perfect sense to me is that the world with domination by human species is perhaps pushing itself towards ways to annihilate humanity as the earth has done with several others before us. Industrialization may be viewed as the way to advancement with the regeneration of hopes via US domination. But the same may be true if viewed as a fact that its the start of uncontrolled harassment of nature and an ever increasing of distances from nature and humans. We are possibly the luckiest generation to have seen such a tremendous change in our daily lives but we have the responsibilities to ensure that we do ont cross the line and pay back the nature in as many ways as we can. I am not sure what we can really give nature back at this moment but we do need to find. Else industrialization will mark the beginning of a slow process building itself to resist human interference and possibly human existence altogether.

I wish humanity all the best.

Damini/Nirbhaya finally departed ... felt ashamed from bottom of heart.

I guess her soul was already dead and the body gave up to the intense inhuman torture beyond imagination ... May Damini's soul rest in peace .. and may her life not go in vain ... I hope to see judgement, and take oath that I/we will do everything in my/our power, physically or socially, to ensure such elements are met with apt judgement on the spot without delay, as much as possible. I hope that the youth learns to take its responsibilities to fight for the safety of women. We just can not merely be a eyewitness to such tortures met to the sources of our lives ... We need to be mindful, responsible, tough and organized.

And appropriate justice will be hard to come by. Generally colosal delays and policiall tactics weaken the resolve of mass ... fast track courts have been talked but not effectively implemented .... reforms in system as well as social perception is needed ... and then there are Bapu's meaningful words, "Be the change you want to see in the world" ... but what happened is terrible and does shakes our respective souls ... actually these are crimes when a civilized punishment does not seems appropriate since the nature of crime is out of civilized crime-books .... Arabian/Talibanic punishments seem stone age like but are effective to curb such acts ... after all, iron cuts iron!

Pluralistic ways to Ultimate better??

Nature is God and God is Nature!

I always viewed the thing called God from nature point of view and have failed to understand the difference between these entities. Almost all religions tend to put creator label for God which I am sure is bogus idea of stone ages still being pushed hard for political agendas. Then they say their is evil which I guess is supposed to be Mr God stuff's creation (as everything else is) too and really dilutes the clarity and so, its all messed up. The size and scale of objects in universe is mesmerizing and I do not see any feasibility of establishing hotline business between one particular species and creator of millions of species on one amongst many planet of a star which is amongst billions of such stars in one galaxy amongst billions of galaxies in one universe and who knows what more. But its like infant's dreams which is still a nice way to put him/her to sleep.

I think every brain passes through phases of sensations of external power center and who knows who is better in sensing them. perhaps our evolution has substantially compromised our abilities in such regard as is our sense of sensing earth waves unlike most non-human species on earth which helps them understand seismic waves beforehand. Nevertheless, that feeling of feeling the ultimate inside ourself is fun. I guess being born with close association with nature and spiritual society with emphasis on meditation has provided ample opportunities to leave material influences to rest for periods of time and know what it means and feels like, but all in all, we are one weird species with weird predictions and ways of life. Bottom-line  I would rather do to nature what I expect from others to do for me, and by nature I mean each plant, animal and species not classified there in. We are merely one form of organic weirdoes who are out there imagining weird stuff day and night.

Semi-automatic guns in US should be illegal

Basically, it seems to me that a control on semi-automatic guns may prevent rampant shooters and is probably as much as can be done. The mass shooters take advantage of classification of semi automatic rifle in no issue category. Legally, you don't need anything to buy and have the semi-automatic (1-shot per manual click) AR15/M16/AK47. The AK47s are cheapest starting like 350$, but to get a widely popular concealable hand gun like Glock 19 or 27 (~500$) or even a cheap High Point (~150$) etc, you need a permit which kind of involves background check meaning most of the High points used by criminals are illegal. Currently, all AR15s are in high demand and mostly out of stock online. Their days in legal US market seem to be heading towards being over for good.

Horrible Newtown shootings and gun control

US needs gun safety as much as gun ownerships, if not more. Some one need to be held responsible, And parents who had to leave the school without their loved children will need justice. The shootings these days seem to happen too often to be judged random and ignored. Civilians do not need assault semi-automatic guns, and the owners of rest need to be checked for mental/psychological health like periodical sight checks for regular driving licenses.

From CNN

In the end, its monters amongst people who kill people. And those monsters are mostly psychopaths who shed their frustrations with their heinous acts. The biggest reason behind all this is the social structure that has failed this society. Considering the state of fragile relationships that are forged after such intrusive anatomies, its not quite clear as to where the society as whole is going. And the times are not going to get any better in terms of employment and benefits and neither the social backup is going to improve. There are harder times ahead which need resolve and greater attention.

Harassment of Hindus in Pak

Cruel. Just cruel.

TOI article on harassment of Hindus

The partition of India was done under chapters 10 and 11 of Indian Independence Act on the basis that Hindus and Muslims can not live together in a peaceful manner due to conflicts and lack of respect for each others traditions and culture. It was also a way for British to insure that India as a nation does never rises above the shackles of scratches it would receive in doing so. Somehow, while India rose to the occasion, thanks to Vallabh Bhai Patel's magic and acceptability and native peaceful intuitions of Hindu India, the Pakis went into a deeper mess with Islamism as the only hope of their leaders to retrieve the nation.

Statistics of population as per religion are frightening. So talking of liberty and human rights has been a one sided affair on the Indian side of it while the jihadist mental build up driven by 7th century AD Arabian desert tribal's sharia mentality ensured that the peaceful instincts are always compromised in both West Pak and East Pak.

While I feel sorry at the condition of minorities in these Islamic states, I feel sorry for Islam and Mohammed himself , for having such awesome followers (They had voilent demonstrations in support of viruses from Bagaladeshis and Myanmar in Mumbai, How gracious!)! They forgot all the positives such as Science, arts and literature and could only assimilate the voilent portions. "They" here means those who are in power, others almost fail to count due to the dynamics of politics. It can not really get worse for peace loving common muslims in the entire peninsula as they would feel the heat for generations to come ... at least till there is oil for fuel in middle east.

The motivation to move forward in context of social issues.

Its partly from some responses that I wrote during some discussion and hence things may not look streamlined. But the meaning and spirit is there within them, if anyone cares :)

__________
As bad and heinous issues like non-touchability (if its sadly still there in some parts of India)  is, I think its great step forward to realize the problem and things like reservations and reforms have been doing well. We have to understand the way things work in here in US as well as in African continent to understand why things are not as bad as you might think. e.g. I can assure everyone that there is no one single graduate black student in all of engineering departments at U Cincinnati and recently came to know that its exactly the same at U Cape Town. Anyways, the point is there are imperfections and problems, but we should feel good about the fact that we realize it and are working on it as a society. That may not even be the case on many parts of the world including the most advanced ones. Leave apart the values we have inculcated within ourselves being part of the civilization that had perhaps the strongest base.we should appreciate that we understand the problem within and not let other foreign powers misuse them against the spirit of our culture, else we will have nothing to loose afterwards.

I worry for such issues being misused because I see people exactly behaving like foreign agents out there to serve their purpose. I hope we get a rational picture of positives and negatives of everything. Its in deed easy to find fault in others. We need to be self critical. We need to look at history a bid broadly. Look at the system once more, then see who wrote them, then check how far in history those writings go. Look at what travelers mentioned during their travels in 4-8th century AD. Then see how the world was systematically used and raped by Europeans, then check medieval history and history of Americas and Africa. Then we will realize the picture. Anyway, its not easy once we are framed in some constrained space.

Coming back to our point of discussion, the caste system became curse the moment is got associated with birth, otherwise, as long as its a matter of occupation, its how society is. Also understand that it is this system, that has kept our culture and beliefs intact over time. No other civilization could resist the Abrahmic juggernaut. Nevertheless, we lost many too. So we better have some respect for it and rather do something positive. If we do not stop this western painted picture from enveloping our minds, its gonna be a struggle with nothing at hand. I guess its too late for many to be able to get that! We need to be able to maintain the best of what we have like the spiritual independence and choices and then get rid of things that are irrelevant. Caste system broadly comes from the Manusmriti, which is an Indian version of Abrahmic system which to me is pretty stupid since most of it quantifies punishment in afterlife. You have to read it once. I had it in at my village and was not overtly impressed amidst the ocean of stuff we have. Its a mix bag to great things and some useless stuff as any other celebrated book. But its a small portion of what ancient wisdom we have. As bad as a situation we are in, somewhere in my mind, I still see that Indians are the most open people when it comes to the ability to be able to make changes to the system.

Flexibility has been one of the reasons why different things tend to diffuse and create colors. It takes time. But there lies our everything. Our identity is indeed time tested. I see the small problems as opportunity that we as a society should take head on otherwise the differences will be exploited, as they have been and they are being. You know, the best part of our civilization is us being grown as being not hypocritical about issues, as many many others in the world are. Unlike west, where they cry and advertise to make shallow imprints which seem wide, We take things the way they are and have kept us more inclined towards keeping it plain, deep and simple. In all, we have the capacity and flexibility to show the world the way forward with true sense of coexistence and openness, without cross blaming. Its easy with many, harder with few others. But we can make it.

Talibans say music is un-islamic.

We thought music has God's essence. The Talibans say music is un-islamic and so kill singers and even their families. I guess I have the right to be ashamed of Talibans being in human forms!!

The problem is that so called religions have been always used by powerful kings and commanders as tools to manipulate human thoughts for their own sake and turn them into devils for mankind. Medieval history if a solid proof. Common human beings are always nice and try to keep away from troubles protecting their lives and assets. These bigots on the other hand are brainwashed, have nothing to loose and are out there since a long long time now. This is how the Ghori's and Lodi's and Babur's got their people to wars since they had everything to gain and nothing to loose and that they were applead to kill infidels and create a sharia based society. How so ever sick it sounds, its amazing how such an idea faced little resistance. We as human society just do not have guts to take evils on and that is our demising factor. They will kill every source of social vision one by one and make us narrow minded so we become them. Fundamentalism is a serious virus. We need to be one to be able to fight them. Sadly we are not!

Revised July-End visit plan

Click on the View larger map option explore the places. I request any one interested to meet me at Boulder, CO. The probable dates for the journey from Boulder would be 21st or 28th of July early morning. You can take off from the trip at an appropriate time and place after or near Badlands (I suggest). We may work out for a way to explore possibilities of visiting most places by the end of next week, ie, Sunday. We can accordingly shorten the route as well, e.g. remove Glacier National Park which would save a lot of time. The only thing is that I ask you to have a look at pictures of it before you decide its not worth at the moment.

Wish us good luck!
Har Har Mahadev.
